Weddings Galore!!

Okay, this past weekend I attended a wedding/reception and a bridal shower party. It was definitely a love/couple themed weekend, not that I mind.

I had fun at all the events, but was disappointed that my hectic life schedule kept me from another wedding this past Saturday. Cami Heffield was married out in Salt Lake City and I missed it because of scheduling, and distance :)
I was happy to see though that photos of her wedding are already being posted online by well meaning and caring friends, thanks Dori Anderson. I've borrowed a few of those photos to pass them along. I'm sure talking about the photos, and who all I knew there will make it seem like I was part of the event :)

A Drive Down Memory Lane...

well almost.

This past weekend I found myself driving home from a Bridal Shower party (yeah..Lana). As I was driving past the farm out of habit I turned into the gravel driveway. It wasn't until I was almost halfway up the driveway when I realized that I didn't live there anymore. It's not only me that doesn't live there any more, but my parents as well.

Here it is the home my Dad has lived in for over 50 years, and we're no longer there. This is going to take some getting use to.

What makes the transition even more difficult to work through is the fact that at the present I'm only living a quarter of a mile from the farm. I'll be passing by the farm every day, for who knows how long.

Honestly though now is probably the most difficult hump in weaning myself off the farm. This is the time after we've moved out and prior to the new occupant moving in. I'm looking forward to seeing someone else living in the farm house, making the place there own, with there own touches. Once I start seeing the farm look different from how our family always knew it, I'll be more at ease knowing it's not ours any more.

Until then, I'll probably keep driving up the wrong driveway, my own little trip down memory lane.

It's Started...

Already I'm getting emails (I should say email -singular - don't want to over exgerrate this) regarding my blog.

One of my best friends, Emily Huffman, sent me an email yesterday. She was excited about my new blog, but concerned with whether or not I was keeping my old one out there in the ethers of time and space (the internet).

Sure, I'll keep my old blog open to the public. It's great for me, and others, to look back with fondness and trepidation of the events of time's past.

So, if you want a walk down memory lane just you'll find those posts at Jenwinker's Journal.

Of course, I won't be adding anything new to that journal, so continue to come on back to "Life In Another Valley" (that's the name of this current blog) for the most up to date information on ME.

A Fresh New Start

About three years ago I joined the "blogger world", and I kept up semi-regular posts for two and a half years. Then last November I lost all motivation for blogging; I know it's quite sad.

So, why did I lose my (semi)passion for blogging, and what got me started in it in the first place? One word, UTAH!!

Three years ago in May, I moved myself out to Utah. As a way staying in touch with family and friends, as a method for venting the everyday, I began to blog. Last November I moved back to Virginia after two and a half years in Utah. At the time I was way too busy to blog, then completely unmotivated to do so (I live near my family now), and it didn't seem I had anything to share.

I felt all that until recently. In the last several weeks I've been itching to write about the "everyday" again. I can't promise I'll keep regular and consistent entries, but atleast I won't mysteriously vanish for six months again.

There were stories to share about Utah, and there are stories to share about Virginia, so prepare yourself.
